Our Group is responsible for power and propulsion systems, plus all the mechanical items on the helicopter (with the exception of rotor blades and hubs).
The power systems section is responsible for the design and test of the various fluid power systems on the helicopter, which include fuel, hydraulics, environmental control and engine installations. The propulsion systems section is responsible for the specification and control of helicopter engines, whilst the mechanical section is responsible for the design and testing of drive systems.
Put simply, the principal aim of our team is to develop world-class rotor systems technology. All aspects of research, advanced engineering, design, development and testing of rotor systems (including rotor controls) are undertaken by us. We are also responsible for the safety and integrity of the rotor system designs that we produce.
We are also committed to improving the process by which a concept is turned into hardware, by integrating and automating the design, development, manufacturing, tooling and production systems. We are the only Group outside the US who carry out the highly specialised work we do, and have developed the unique systems that make British helicopters what they are.
