The Business Support Trainee advanced apprenticeship comprises of 18 months spent in placements around the Company, and a further 18 months within the business continuing to complete a Foundation Degree. Trainees are recruited with the intention of working within a specific department at the end of their training, probably in officer level roles within the Company.
Entry Requirements:
- 3 'A' Levels (Grades A-C), 5 GCSEs (Grades A-C) or GNVQ in a related subject
Year 1
Trainees have planned placements in various departments within the organisation, such as Procurement, Finance, Customer Service, HR and Sales and Marketing. This allows trainees to gain experience in a broad area of the Business. Academically, trainees undertake the following qualifications at the University Centre, Yeovil, on half-day release from work:
Foundation Degree in Business and Management
Covering a range of modules including:
- Introduction to Finance
- Marketing
- Managing Information
- Human Resource Management
- Business Environment
- Project Management
NVQ Level 3 Business and Administration
Covering 6 units including:
- Carry out your responsibilities at work
- Work within your business and environment
Young People Launch Pad
Personal development programme
e.g. Working in Teams, Presentation Skills, Customers and Customer Focus etc
Year 2
In year 2 the trainee completes a 6-month placement in the specific department for which they were recruited. The Foundation Degree is undertaken throughout the second year also.
